Signs of the times
Saturday's massive protest at Hyde Park in London gathered together 2 million people against the proposed war on Iraq. It also revealed quite a bit of creativity when it came to slogans expressing people's feelings about what's going on. Shrinking Globe presents a selection of some of the most interesting signs seen on the march

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair may have been furious at the peace marchers, as this ad for the Evening Standard newspaper made clear, but the marchers were even more furious at him for leading their country to war despite all the opposition to it.

The sign below, on the right above the phone booth, was a telling metaphoric symbol of just how ugly a war for oil really is. 

US President George Bush also bore much of the brunt of the people's anger, as the cynical sign below reveals.

The dreamy meaning of this sign did not take away from the pragmatism of the anti-war movement's goals.
