November Letters Ramadan thoughtsDear Sir: "Of yameesh, fawanees, and televised contemplation" is an excellent article -- see how easy it is for Muslims to follow all the religious duties in unison and at the same time all over the world, while we are unable to stand united against the enemies of Islam? You must write about the misery happening in Afghanistan, and your TV serials must project it by making films on such a burning issue. I am a pediatrician from Pakistan and I graduated from Assiut University 19 years ago. I lived in Egypt for 6 years but my heart still beats in Cairo. I still have lots of love and intimacy with Egypt just like I did when I was young student. Rafiq Kara Salaam, Your site is traditionally great. Well done and keep up the good work. One comment -- I could not find any thing about Ramadan dominant on your front page. Safan Herbie rides again Sirs: Yes I did enjoy this article (Real jazz comes to town -- interview with Herbie Hancock). But I just wanted to suggest -- why don't African Americans also pick West African names? Tuffour Political bravado Hi there, Bravo. You put your hands on a successful recipe (Why doesn't Afghanistan make Rolexes?) for deep analysis of the very best columnists in the Arab world. Nice language. Political tones which are much listened to these days. This is a super article and very very useful to a lot of readers in the US and Arab world. Brian SirYour site reminds me of the Hamdi Kandil program on TV but with much more in-depth analysis rather than just presenting the headlines. The updated news is also very informative and interesting. Omar Sir: I enjoyed all your articles especially the Hassaeain Heikal review and the review of the two TV programs. That is a lot of work and excellent journalism. Manal Denouncing terror Hello, I looked at your site and thank you for giving people
chances to share their ideas with others. Tracy Wing General praise Dear Sir Thank you for the website. It's beautiful & up to date, but we are in need of more and more. I wish you good luck and more success. Mahmud Sultan Sir: Very interesting and informative site. Keep the good work. A.M.M. Aly Hi I am an Egyptian who lives in the USA. I work in the field of advertising here. I was really so happy when I saw your web site and I loved it so much that I decided to write you an e-mail to express my admiration. Thanks Ahmed The true picture Dear cairolive: Everyday I visit your website and read all the latest
news about what is going on in Cairo. Today I read this
article about "stereotyping" and it brings a tear to my
eye. While your article is true in saying that there are some who
stereotype anyone from the Middle East, please don't think that all of
America is like that. There is a saying in America that says,
"one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch" and I feel that
this is the case. The people here who act with hatred in their hearts
have probably never been to your part of the world to see how
wonderful your people and your country are. They probably have never
even met an Arabic person. Desert Films
