Touching up the tunnel
Work is progressing at a rapid clip on the new Al-Azhar tunnel which will link Opera Square downtown with Salah Salem Street. The tunnel is being built in an attempt to alleviate Cairo's chronic traffic problems, as well as turn the area near Al-Azhar into a pedestrian-only zone, as part of a plan to make the monument-rich area more tourist friendly.
