DATELINE -- 2002
The 24th Cairo International Film Festival began Tuesday night with a gala ceremony attended by everybody who is anybody in the Arab entertainment world. The ceremony took place at the Cairo Opera House and was presided over by the festival head, actor Hussein Fahmy. Italian actress Sophia Loren, pictured above, was the festival's international guest star, and was honored during the event for her lifelong achievements in film.
