UPDATED!
Complicated conference
The big Mideast reform conference that US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice was supposed to attend in Cairo in March has been delayed indefinitely... Wafd reacts strongly to rumors of the delay being a result of negative US pressure, and Jihad El-Khazen weighs in on the topic in Hayat. Get links to both in Arabic on zahma.com. And here's the El-Khazen column in translation...

DOMESTIC POLITICS
BBC's report on yet another kifaya protest, this one in front of Cairo U. Reuters has a go at it as well...

UPDATED!
Not letting up
Wafd gets really worked up about the Post's editorial... Check it out on zahma.com

Reports on Ayman Nour beginning a hunger strike and anonymous assailants accosting a Ghad party meeting...

Washington Post pens its harshest take yet on detained Ghad party chairman Ayman Nour, after Nour falls ill during investigations and is taken to hospital... Nour had previously distanced the Ghad party from such foreign calls for his release... Meanwhile, those calls continue; the latest editorial -- in the Christian Science Monitor -- slams Egypt hard, and urges Bush to use aid as a pressure tool.

Mobile politics
In Philippines style cellular politics, many Mobinil mobile phone users received SMS text messages on Saturday asking them to support Nour.
Vodaphone users' network was down for several hours at around the same time.

SYRIA
Mubarak sends intelligence chief Omar Suleiman to Syria to mediate on upcoming post-Hariri assassination steps... Plus, AFP's story on the same...

Syrian Foreign Minister coming to Cairo for talks...

ISRAEL
"Israel must withdraw from the Salaheddin corridor before Egyptian forces move into the Egyptian-Palestinian border line," Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit told reporters.

A kinder, gentler Sharon is portrayed by the Ahram interview with the Israeli Prime Minister, who made positive comments about Egypt's peace efforts. AP also makes a big deal about it.
Meanwhile, Israel evacuates Gaza border with Egypt...

Mohamed Assem named Egypt's new ambassador to Tel Aviv...
