Cross-country cultural exchange
Cultural centers across the nation go into overdrive during Ramadan, providing entertainment and cultural discussion forums nearly every night. The events are always free, and tend to draw large audiences looking for new, fun things to do after iftar. Usually, song-and-dance troupes representing different governorates tour the country, putting on performances for local audiences. This year the Nile Troupe for Traditional Instruments will also be heading as far as Paris for eight days of concerts on the occasion of Ramadan. At the Aswan Cultural Palace, the month's activities began earlier in the week with performances by both the local Aswan troupe, and a folklore troupe in town from Sharqiya.
