Bank square
The answer to our previous contest -- where we asked you to name the man in the statue after whom the square in the photo is named -- is Talaat Harb. Harb was one of the magnates of the modern Egyptian economy. As for the clue we gave you -- about the green awning belonging to a famous bookshop -- it's called Madbouli's.

We quickly received 14 correct answers to this question. We also received quite a few wrong ones, with people confusing the famous downtown square for others dedicated to Mostafa Kamel and other legendary figures.

The winners were:
Ashraf Moftah
Rabmichael1
Antoaneta Nehma
Magd Fahmy
Mahmoud Dahab
Andrzej Skotowski
Doreen Briggs
Mostafa Hussein
Anki Hagberg
helga
Neil Macdonald
Amr Mohammed
Aboud AbdelAzim
Sherif Abdel-Fattah

Easy as steel
The answer to our last contest -- when we asked you to name the building from which this beautiful architectural detail stems -- was the Train Station called Bab El-Hadid in Ramsis Square downtown. We considered any answer that featured some element of the above correct, and quickly got 12 winners. They are:

Anki Hagberg
Silvia Holtrop
Youssef Abagui
Assem A. Memon
Doreen Briggs
Omar Atia
Tamer Fayez
Hany Abbas
Ahmed Al-Sahhar
Sherif Abdel-Fattah

Congratulations to all of our lucky winners, who will each be receiving an "I Love Torshi" sticker from cairolive.com.

Actually...
For our last "Pic of the Week" we thought we would be giving away ten stickers, but we only ended up giving away one. It seems the picture was so obscure and so difficult that every single answer we got was wrong.

The question was:
Where is this place?
a) Somewhere in Spain
b) Somewhere in Old Cairo
c) Somewhere in Nasr City

Admittedly, the picture does not necessarily typify Nasr City --but that in fact, is where it is. And that's the whole point of a contest, isn't it? To not make things too obvious.

Those who answered Spain were way off the mark -- after all, the site is called Cairo Live. Those who answered Old Cairo may have had a point-- it did look like it could have been taken at one of the city's antique sites. Then, again, nearly every neighborhood might have some hidden charms.

This particular shot was taken on a side street off of Nozha Street near Al-Riqaba Al-Idaraya...

Congratulations to Mohamed ElBeltagy, who submitted the right answer on September 26, the first person to say Nasr City after a string of Old Cairos.
