Merry Ramadan
While I enjoyed reading your article, (Of
yameesh, fawanees, and televised contemplation) there are just a
couple of things wrong with it and especially with the other article
"Ramadan Riddles."
In that article you are criticizing the way Christmas is celebrated in
the West. You say that its a time to "spend spend spend" and
that its a "steadily commercialized" holiday. Well I
disagree! You must understand that spending to buy those gifts is not
really as far from the meaning of Christmas as you think. In fact it's
exactly what Christmas stands for; the spirit of giving. The elves,
Santas, and Grinchs you mention are what make the holidays in the West
enjoyable. You really must look before you speak and then you will
find that it's what people enjoy. You might argue and say that you
mentioned this in your article, but you only did in one phrase and I
really don't think you even believe it. You speak of the connection
between Christmas and Ramadan like it is a sin of some sort.
If this e-mail upsets you in any way I apologize. If you have any
comments on this email you can email me back anytime. Thank you,
Adel Fouad

I loved the photos. (Water-skiing on

Hope that we can again return to perform in Egypt.

Shaaban -- still
fascinating
Please put the Lyrics to " I hate Israel" on this site. (The
singer as society's fun-house mirror) I am Jewish but have been
fascinated by this song since I first heard about it. Hope all is well
in Cairo.

No difference between
Egypt and Pakistan?
Very much! (Too far to see)
This is the real American way of perceiving the rest of the world.

A case of mistaken
identity
There was a Mohamed Saad (Limby goes
it alone) seen with Bin Laden in 1993; is this the same person?

Expanded horizons
I would like to know more about what's going on in the
Middle East, besides what we
Americans are being told of by the news agencies in the United States
(Israel). Thanks

The Bin Laden Tape
The video (The smoking gun?) seems
too good to be true.

After reading the article I came away with an appreciation for Mr.
Atia's critical thinking skills as he appeared to scrutinize various
aspects of the bin Laden tape. However, what I found wanting was a
personal opinion about the authenticity of the tape.
If the tape in your estimate is dubious, just what aspects of it are?
I know you mention the sound quality, and the facial features of bin
Laden as being 'hidden in the shadows,' but what else would you call
into question about the tape? Would it be the surrounding features,
either place or people that seem out of
kilter? Or is it the figure of bin Laden himself. Does he appear
too tall, too short, too dark, too light, or what? Thank you and good
day.
Frederick
On the Bin Laden video tape finally released by the Pentagon the audio
quality of Bin Ladin's voice was the worst of those talking. The sound
was so bad that the Arabic grammar could be heard either way, i.e. we
did, we said, could also be heard as they did, they said, etc. Which
makes a big difference between a person being a spectator or a
mastermind. Bin Laden must be exceedingly stupid to admit in an open
dinner party (while the US Air Force and Special Forces are carpet
bombing the entire country) and with kids and guests all over the
place that he planned and carried out the WTC attacks while previously
declaring to the world he had nothing to do with it. If he is that
stupid then
there is no way a person of that level of intelligence could have
pulled of the sophisticated operation Washington claims he did from
the caves of Afghanistan! What happened to the "concrete"
proof they said they had before? Regards,
John Marshall

Thanks for a great article, it really reflects what I feel. I did not
understand a word in the tapes (did you?) and I don't trust Bush
either, and I know a lot about new technology, and that puts
back the fabrication theory. It's all disgusting and your article said
it best.
