Sharon's one-way ticket
(cairolive.com, April 3, 2002) Ahmed Maher's reaction to Sharon's offer to exile Arafat is on the front page of Wednesday's Al-Akhbar: Sharon is the one who needs a one-way ticket out of the region so that peace can prevail, he said.

Alleyway bully

(cairolive.com, April 3, 2002) A back page cartoon in Wednesday's Al-Wafd  shows Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon standing in a typical alleyway, with a street sign on one of the buildings indicating that it is the "Middle East hara" (alley).
The menacing looking Sharon is saying, "I'm with Al-Me'allam Bush, and whoever doesn't like it can show me what he's got." And as the cartoon Sharon stands there like a typical local hoodlum, his knife dripping blood, the most anyone is willing to do is peak out of the windows.

Don't listen to the satellite TV generals
(cairolive.com, April 3, 2002) Al-Wafd co-editor Abbas El-Tarabili continues to reject the calls for a war with Israel, saying Egypt should not allow the army of satellite TV "generals" calling for armed action to drag the country into a war with an enemy who would then be the one to have chosen the time and place of the battle.
On Tuesday, El-Tarabili posited that the Jews have lost their chance for peace and a normal existence in the Arab world.
