The second round of
the much-covered Bibliotheca Alexandrina reform conference opens
with a speech by President Hosni Mubarak about the progress
that has been made in that realm... Plus, here's AP
coverage of the reform conference...

Released Ghad party chairman Ayman Nour speaks
post-jail for the first time...
He says the party plans to run serious contests against the
NDP in both the presidential and parliamentary elections. "Nour

"It will be equal through their mistakes ... and in their
very modest assets in hearts of Egyptians." He also gets some
support from the EU... AP, meanwhile, adapts

release...

RELATIONS
The press defends
Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit
in this AFP account on the US and democracy.
This story
started when an interview
featuring tough talk and some charm by Abul-Gheit was painted

In related news, the Arabic press is speculating
wildly about the timing
of the next Bush-Mubarak meeting in Washington.
