New Letters

In the first place...

Is George Kordahi overexposed?
Of course not.
It is a question of a one eyed man in the kingdom of the blind. The imposter was in London for two decades, yet he [hardly] made it to any respected media institution. It is only when MBC didn't want to pay the fees demanded by stars like Adel Imam or Yehia Al-Fakharani to present the program, that he was suggested.
His is a cheap imitation of the English show. He is not witty, and as Egyptians say, "Damoh thaquiel" ("He's boring and annoying.") .
Any one who speaks English and sees the original show on TV, will realize how fake Kordahi is.
Just like the Spice Girls in Britain, and Shaaban Abdel Rahim in Egypt, he will be forgotten when the euphoria runs its course.

Fruitless search

I've been searchin' for the song or the music of the beginning of Yehia El-Fakharani's Lil Adala Wogoh Kiteera (Justice Has Many Faces). I meant the music when it begins when they sing: "may hemmenach ...etc." Yeah I have been surfing a lot & I tried several ideas until I found something' about it  on www.cairolive.com:) I hope that you can help me find it... I want to download it as an mp3 file if possible, I like the song so much. By the way I'm Lebanese & I like the Egyptian accent, it drives us crazy & all of us in Lebanon were lookin' for  "Justice Has Many Faces". It's a wonderful mousalsal, the most perfect one I have ever seen in my whole life. Thank God that I found this site -- maybe it will help me :) it's a nice site, absolutely. please reply me as soon as possible, I'll be thankful :)

Lesson time

Cairolive helps me out a lot because of my weakness in reading and writing Arabic and inability to read Arabic newspapers well.  It would be helpful also if cairolive adds 'classified' ads on things for sale around the city, garage sales, people selling antiques, new people around town who offer various services, etc..
thanks.

Big link

Your site is professionally designed and very informative. I will be checking it frequently for news and information from an Egyptian perspective.
I have added a link to your site on my World Media page. I have also added a link to the "Town Hall" story you recommended.
Thank you again,

Mike LaSalle

Terror drives people crazy

We Europeans are happy to see such Arab anger (Terror War Full Coverage) at the US. We laugh when we see how stupid the US is to give Egypt billions in foreign aid. It is very brave of Egyptians to support bin Laden. Terrorism is Islam and Islam is terrorism. That is the message you are teaching the US. Egypt would fall apart without American dollars feeding the people and defending your borders. Good luck to all Egyptians in the long fight against sanity.

Demetrios De Los Santos

Osama is near, run Osama run.
What does the definition of terrorist really mean? Didn't the man that drove Flight #11 have a full-time career in the United States? Happy Valentine's Day Mohamed, Allah loves you, you are my dear friend.
Osama is near, run Osama, run, run, run, run.

Time for a change?

Now that Egypt has lost to Cameroon (
Farewell to Africa), it's time to get over the Gohari complex and rejuvenate the National Soccer team with a competent coach. This should have been done earlier following Egypt's elimination from the next World Cup competition. Those who kept him should also relinquish their power and do something else other than soccer!

Africano -- a bit more, perhaps

Africano looks like a good film, unfortunately I have not
watched it yet.  The review provided some good comments,
but I could have done with more photos of the film.

Tunnel to nowhere?

I loved your tunnel pics -- especially the mashrabiyya'd air shaft. But what about the "unique architectural quirks" that the tunnel-builders may have bored through, such as, most notably, the 11th century Bab Al-Barkuki? Arab Contractors and the SCA have both said that they found no antiquities during construction -- as if there was nothing there. However, as a look at any map of medieval Cairo indicates, it would be practically impossible for the tunnel not to have run into some substantial Fatimid structures. Could that be the reason for the big "bump" that the drill is rumored to have run into a couple of years ago?
