A caricature in Al-Ahram, meanwhile, depicts Ariel Sharon winning the "Best Murderer" Oscar -- with the prize being presented to him by George Bush.

Commentary
Terror war, part two
(cairolive.com, April 4, 2002) Magdi Mehanna in Al-Wafd claims that it has become obvious that the current war in Palestine is the second leg of the US's war on terror. To back up this claim, he cites  coordination in the planning of the conflict's future between the US and Israel. He says the two nations have always cooperated as such,  but that now it is being done out in the open, citing US Secretary of State Colin Powell's remarks that the Israeli campaign will probably last a few weeks...
In fact, Mehanna argues that the Israeli escalation is supposed to be a message to Arabs after they rejected Dick Cheney's attempts to build support for a US strike on Iraq during his last visit. Mehanna then criticizes the Arabs for constantly calling on the US to intervene to end the crisis... All they're doing is asking the US to intervene with the US, he writes.
