Money to the league
A Saudi Arabian prince has decided to provide some $750,000 in funds to the Arab League, in an attempt to push forward political, economic and social efforts towards the furthering of inter-Arab trade. Al-Akhbar reports that the payment was made by Prince Saud Faisal in support of the mandate given to the Arab League's new secretary general Amr Moussa to strengthen the organization.

Sterilization station to help boost trade
A sterilization station is set to open in Alexandria, later this year, to help guarantee the unhindered passage of Egyptian-grown fruits and vegetables to export markets in Europe and the United States. The station will ensure that Egyptian fruit and vegetable exports do not fall short of the health standards set forth by the importing countries. Interestingly enough, the organic farming industry is growing across Egypt, since it is these farms that are managing to successfully export their products.

Rania tries rowing?
Al-Wafd reports that ex-swimmer Rania Elwani has turned her athletic attentions to rowing, now that she has retired from the pool and donned the veil. Elwani made that decision upon returning from last summer's Olympics in Australia without winning a medal. While her quitting and donning the veil has received a lot of press attention, this week's item is purely about Elwani deciding to become seriously involved in rowing. Perhaps this is where this gifted athlete may next turn her sight . During her fruitful swimming career, Elwani broke and held several African and Egyptian records.
