Journey to Nubia

This doorway is reminiscent of those found in traditional Nubian households. Part of a tourist attraction located on the banks of the Nile, overlooking the first cataract at Aswan, its is one of several restaurants and cafeterias that have sprung up attempting to recreate for tourists some of the more unique aspects of Nubian culture, including henna-painting, and traditional song and dance, in a lively, authentic atmosphere. Experts say that if implemented on a national scale, similar interactive ideas that draw on Egyptian culture for their inspiration will help boost tourism.
