Meet the DJ
Nice piece about globalization
and the DJ's James Joycian soul.

I want to meet Hani the DJ next
time we are in Cairo. He sounds
interesting. Great article.

Secrets of the Pyramids
If it weren't for people like Zahi Hawass, Egyptology in our country
would be relegated to nothing. He brings sincere passion to this
topic, and his brilliance and flare are a true mark of a man who is in
love with his heritage. I wish we had more Zahi Hawasses
around.

These types of shows
will eventually discredit archaeology, if he has not already done so.
Graham Oaten
I read your 'dispatch'. It is
very good and accurate.
Robert Bauval
The comment made by Dr Zahi Hawass during the National Geographic's
2-hour presentation when the tomb of the 'supposed' architect of the
pyramids were inaccurate. To say that this proved that all the
"crazy people" who believed in a lost civilization are wrong
is quite astonishing coming from a scholar. The "crazy
people" do not claim that the pyramids were built at any
other time than the claims made by Egyptologists, they claim that the
dating of the building of the Sphinx is wrong.

I was extremely disappointed with the hype of the Secret Chambers
Revealed program. It was stated that "We will solve the
mystery tonight live" and you will discover who, how, why, what,
where, when, etc......about the Great Pyramid of Egypt. Well,
Absolutely NOTHING was solved
so I think National Geographic should apologize for misleading me.

Reminiscing over you
This site is truly interesting, but in the best way possible! It
brings a smile to my face as I read an article or Darwich
"Pasha's" diaries, and I am reminded of all the little
nuances that drove me mad while I was in Cairo, but miss terribly!...
Masr is truly Omm il Donya! Thanks to you guys those of us who aren't
in Egypt can still get a daily dose of it [minus the pollution and
smog].
Nora
Your sites
are very broad in scope and rich in information, and they must be the
fruit of devoted daily work.
Leila
Great
site, and many greetings
from fans in Holland

I like the new
issue of cairolive. I am happy that you have returned to
reporting the news and commenting rather than just a bunch of empty
links that I could have got to by checking yahoo. Keep it up.

Your website is really great, it talks about real Egypt , the true
image , and in easy English. Both zahma.com,
and shrinkingglobe.com
both are also great efforts

A year later
Read your pieces on the September
11 anniversary -- excellent, definitely among your best work.

This Dardasha article about diplomacy
and mass communication is one of the best articles I have read
in quite some time.

Back to Kordahi
I think that Kordahi is great
and he is a very attractive person who has his own magic which makes
him famous
in our Arab world especially his eyes and his smile, his voice,
his look and style.....no one can deny that he is the best.....

The philosophy of trash
I have been fortunate to attend
the "trash people"
event both at the Great Wall of China and at the Pyramids. I am a
journalist with the German national daily DIE WELT, and I have written
about both of these events. I think that Mr Schult has given the world
a great, great masterpiece, and I was enthralled to see the Pyramids
AND the Pyramids with the 1000 "Pyramid People".
I am very grateful that the authorities of Egypt have supported the
event - it is a sign that Egypt belongs not only to the past, but also
to today's world and the future.
Masr is a country with great perspectives, and adopting modern
positions in art so boldly corroborates just that.
Modern art embraces life in full, and the continuity between a great
past and a hopefully bright future, which was perfectly embodied by
the "Pyramid People", is a sign of hope for peace and
prosperity. Of course an artist who is mentally at the very center of
his time can adopt trash as a medium: We litter this planet with the
debris of our civilization (and very much so in the Western World),
and if we put this together, like HA Schult does, we have an image of
both the culprits and the victims. And we have the memory of the Old
Egyptians who built the Pyramids, an expression of the hope that more
of our time will remain than the trash the sculptures were made of.
The images of this event went around the world, zillions have seen
them, and zillions have been reminded yet again of Egypt, a country
which has witnessed some six turns of a millennium.
I hope you agree with me,
G C Rump
