Health
Contradictory cold
One of the most common phenomenon, in the sweltering heat of summer, is an annoying air-condition catalyzed cold. As more and more public and private space becomes air conditioned in Egypt, people are becoming increasingly at risk of catching colds due to the sudden shifts in temperature. The most common problem involves going from the sweaty outdoors of a walk or a ride in heavy traffic, straight into an ice cold air conditioned office or mall. If one's back is moist with sweat, the cold air can be an immediate virus inflictor. This week Al-Wafd featured an in-depth article on this subject, including a very telling picture of a man working at a desk with his back not more than a few centimeters away from a window unit on full blast.

Chili Peppers cancel hot Israeli gig
Popular US rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers took State Department warnings not to visit Israel at the present time seriously, canceling their planned late August Tel Aviv show. The decision was a blow to the concert's promoters and fans in Israel who, according to news reports, were looking for any sort of fun to divert their attention from the current goings on. 15,000 tickets had already been sold for the concert. On a Red Hot Chili Peppers Internet discussion board, an impromptu survey revealed that 70 per cent of the band's fans agreed with their decision to cancel the show.
